It was a hot and steamy December day in South Florida on Tuesday, with several high temperature records set. The high at Palm Beach International Airport of 86 degrees tied the mark set in 1997.
And the high at Miami International Airport of 85 tied the record, also set in 1997.
Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport made it to 87 degrees Tuesday.
PBIA received 0.53 of rain Tuesday. Parts of North Palm Beach County were inundated, though, as a line of showers and thunderstorms stretching from Collier County through Jupiter north to Martin County were under the gun for most of Tuesday afternoon and evening.
Juno Beach had 3.65 inches of rain, and one station in Jupiter off Indiantown Road south of the Loxahatchee River reported 8.58 inches. Closer to I-95, a station off Central Boulevard reported 6.36 inches.
More rain and thunderstorms were possible Wednesday with a forecast high in Palm Beach of 82 degrees. A cold front should move through Thursday bringing temperatures down to a more seasonable upper 70s with drier weather and cooler nights.
